According to "A Guide To Historic Bluffton" the church is a Gothic revival style structure designed by a Charleston architect.Construction began in 1854 and first services were held July 17, 1857. During the Civil War the town was looted and burned by Union soldiers but they were ordered not to destroy this church. It is really surreal to sit in the pews and think about all the souls that have sat there before me. It is unlike ANY Episcopal church I have ever attended... but then again I have to remind myself I am in the SOUTH now!! The Very Reverend Chuck Owens and his southern accent are awesome!
This is the view of the May river from the Church window. I am drawn to sitting on the side of the church with the river views, don't know why??? I prefer the Sunday services but will probably attend the Saturday night service because otherwise I will be sitting in church watching my family cruise by on the boat!!
They do not have a MOPs but they do have a very active Moms Ministry. YAY!
