Daddy has 9 days off this week! Woo hooo! We let him have the weekend to work on his jeep bumper (picture to follow...the jeep deserves its own post page) and enjoy Sandbar Sunday but the weekdays were booked with some serious family bonding time.
For starters it included playing alphabet cornhole on the new kiddie sized boards that Pop built and reading books in the tent I set up in their bedroom. (The boys "camped" in their tent in their room for 4 nights this week.)

"I challenge you to a game!!!" |
First on our list (ok, MY list) of local "fun things to do" was Lawton Stables at Sea Pines Plantation.
http://www.lawtonstableshhi.com/ You have to pay $5 to get onto the "plantation" which is kindof poopy, especially since the entire southern tip of HHI and everything on it including the "sad excuse for a light house" is part of the Sea Pines Plantation, but once you are there you can wander around and enjoy the dense live oaks, the bike trails, the HUGE preserve and the petting zoo that is part of the stables.

Harley the Horse! |
After the zoo we visited Harbour Town and wandered around. The playground there is built around the most amazing oak trees.

The "tourist pier" at the Southernmost tip of Hilton Head Island. |

Can't tell which is goofier..my hat or Spud's grin? |
We then headed to Publix where a woman chastised me for letting the boys skip school...she was floored when I said Pnut was only 3 years old. She thought he was 6!
After ham sandwiches and naps we decided to join Daddy down at the boat ramp where he was testing out his new boat... the engine was 10 years old so it needed a little TLC before it would run so he rebuilt the carb and replaced the water pump and it ran like new!! Ok, so he was "testing" the motor... as in just going for a quick test run... as in NOT expecting his family to ambush him and want to cruise in the new boat with him BUT basking in the pride that his boat runs well he loads us all up and takes off.....
What happens next you ask.... WE RUN OUT OF GAS!!! A FIRST in the history of Mercer boating!! So his test drive ended up being a quiet family filled drift up the May River until Pop and Grammy got home from school and could rescue us. The boys enjoyed it and if you ask me, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon than drifting in beautiful surrounding with the 3 people you love the most.

Daddy attempted to pull us to shore... we were a LOT heavier than he thought! |
 |
The boys were more than happy to "throw lines" until we were rescued. |
