Moran Christmas Party

We finally got to ride on "Daddy's tug boat!!!" Today was the company Christmas party with lots of good food and steamed oysters and low country boil but the best part was the fact the office was relaxing the rules a bit and allowing friends and family to ride on the tugs. The boys have been dying to take a ride since we moved here in June!!

Thursday Tradition

Every Thursday we head over to church for Mom's Group... a wonderful 2 hours where I get to hang out with other mommys and talk without interruption (heaven!!) and the boys get to play with their friends.  It has turned into a tradition that afterwards we play on the church grounds, roll down the bluff, visit the fishing dock and if the tide is low we "go on an adventure" into the woods next to the dock. I had my camera with me today so I documented our adventures....

From the fishing dock we could see a crane at the Oyster factory installing a mast on a sail boat so we headed over there to watch up close.

Nanna is here!!

Nanna and Pop Wally finally got to see our new town! On their way home from NY they stopped to spend a few fun filled days with us. The boys were THRILLED to have their Nanna back :o)

Savannah Bridge Run!

I ran over the big BIG bridge today!! I did not have a personal best time... in fact it was my personal WORST time! But that's OK. This was my first race in 6 years and my first race since becoming a mom so I am thrilled that I was even able to make it to the starting line in time not to mention finish the race. I was a little out of my element at the beginning of the race but got my groove at mile one and ran with a vengeance till the finish line. And yes, I am one of THOSE people that has their camera out and is taking photos the entire time (I'm a DORK and I own it! he he)

Slow Week

Not much to report on this week...I guess even the Mercer family needs to lay low and take it easy sometimes. Daddy was off work starting Tuesday so he took the boys to their favorite "bounce house park" also known as The Island Playground (http://www.island-playground.com/ ) This photo is off of their website... really cool place! One thing the boys always love to play with there is the Thomas train table (you can see it in the lower right corner below.)



Of course I behave like a typical mother and remind them that they have the entire Thomas the train set at home... WHY don't they play with their own trains??? The answer is that their trains don't have an awesome table that keeps the tracks from coming apart and when they play with their trains they always have to pick them up and put them away at the end of the day (I know, evil mother..the nerve!?) So, to make a long story even longer I guess the boys spent a lot of time playing at the train table when they were there with Daddy this week which led HIM to ask the same question. HE answered it by coming home and building the boys their own table. Check this out....

How cool is that?? My boys are SO lucky to be Mercers and to have a Dad that can build stuff like this on a whim (lucky too that their Dad had a co-worker that gave us the entire train set! As Pnut would say "Wow, that costs a hundy dollars!") We need to figure out the best track set up before we glue it down..there is a lot more track in the box than what you see. (I set that up and I do not have the required chromosome to be able to use ALL the track and create the "good trains" like my husband can. Whatever.) I am looking forward to painting  it too, with streets and trees and water and all the cool stuff that the one at the playground has only cooler because it will be home made and not painted by a machine in China. I will share a photo (or two or ten) when it is finished!

We had a cold front come through this week and it brought some rain on the first day. The rain for some reason brought a ton of birds. I was fascinated with them and ended up watching an entire flock bathe in the puddles in the yard. They were SO cute the way they would get all poofy and flap in the puddle and dip their heads. (Hey, I did mention it was a slow week.) These photos don't come close to the level of cuteness I was witnessing but I will share them anyway...

Today we dragged Aunt Karen to Savannah. She was a trooper and tolerated the whirlwind river street tour. I am excited that she and I will be going back to do a LOT more touring of the squares and admiring of the architecture in the months to come (with OUT the Mercer males... they are not as appreciative of the history. Pnut and Spud just wanted to look for tugs and ride on the ferry.)
I have an awesome Walking Tours of Savannah book so we will be choosing a tour out of the book and following it and enjoying the beauty that is Savannah (and avoiding all the not so pretty seedy parts!) In the mean time, here are a few photos of the walking bridges and Factors Row/Walk.
